29 Jun St.Josephs Girls’ U-14 Head to Barcelona
The Footvia International Tournament is a worldwide youth international football tournament, based in Barcelona, for both boys’ and girls’ teams. Previous teams that have competed in this prestigious youth football tournament include the likes of Atletico Madrid, PSG, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia, Athletic Club De Bilbao and Real Sociedad to name but a few.
The tournament kicked off this Wednesday (June 28) and goes on until Saturday (July 1) with five locations seeing action taking place, all centered around the beautiful city of Barcelona. The Footvia International Tournament take girls’ football very serious, catering to under-12, under-14 and under-18 age categories.
The aforementioned St. Joseph’s Girls’ under-14 side left for Barcelona on Wednesday (June 27), and have prepared for two days of action. Throughout Thursday and Friday, they will play matches in the ‘qualifying development’ phase.
Should the young Joeys side progress from this phase, they will then move on to the ‘development finals’ on Saturday (June 28), whilst further progress would see them play on Sunday for the semi-finals and finals.
Should they not make it that far however provisional plans have been put in place to explore the city of Barcelona over the weekend. We would like to extend our wishes to all the players and staff currently in Barcelona this week for the Footvia International Tournament.
DB Sports Tours – Tour operator Paul O’Brien had this to say “It’s great to see young aspiring Irish players compete in these sort of tournaments against Europe’s elite clubs, this experience will not only help the young players to develop technically but it will also create memories that will last for a life-time”
