SFAI Elite Vie For Place in Champions Cup

SFAI Elite Vie For Place in Champions Cup

This weekend eight teams will learn their fate as the SFAI All-Ireland comes to a climax. The under-12, under-13, under 14 and under-15 sections will all play their finals after the long season.

The winner of each final will book a place in this year’s Champion Cup, representing the SFAI (Schoolboy Football Association of Ireland), as they take on their counterparts across the border as they representing the NIBFA (Northern Ireland Boys Football Association).

As ever the Champions Cup will take place Christmas week with specific date to be confirmed, while the venue will be – as ever – Armagh City’s grounds

Most of the teams competing this weekend for a place in the Champions Cup are the usual big hitters, with seven of the eight teams coming from Dublin, while one side hails from the Rebel County, Cork.

The under-12 SFAI final sees Shamrock Rovers take on St. Kevin’s Boys FC. Let’s not forget it was the Tangerine Boys from Whitehall, St. Kevin’s Boys, who lifted the under-12 Champions Cup last December, defeating Cliftonville FC by a score-line of 3-0.

The under-13 SFAI final meanwhile sees the aforementioned St. Kevin’s Boys take on another Dublin big hitter in St. Joseph’s Boys AFC. St. Joseph’s Boys AFC were in last year’s under-13 final, but fell short to the Belfast based side Linfield FC, losing the match 5-0.

Next up we have the under-14 SFAI final, where we will see the ever-dominant St. Kevin’s Boys take on fellow Dubliners Belvedere FC. Belvedere were in the under-14 final last year too, continuing the symmetry so far. The Fairview based club took on Dungannon United Youth, wherein they fell short 4-2 in an end-to-end thriller.

Last but certainly not least up we have Corinthians College AFC take on St. Mary’s Boys FC. Corinthians may have a name synonymous with Brazilian football, but they come from Cork. They take on the lesser known St. Mary’s Boys FC, looking to book a place in the oldest section in this year’s Champions Cup.

Everyone here at DB Sports Tours is extremely excited to see which teams book their place in this year’s Champions Cup. We would like to wish all competing this weekend the very best of luck in their endeavours.
