Ruari Paton scores a hat trick on his senior debut

Ruari Paton enjoyed a dream senior debut with a hat-trick for Gala Fairydean Rovers in their William Hill Scottish Cup win over Lossiemouth.

The young striker joined Gala on loan last week, and made an instant impact by opening the scoring after only 6 minutes, firing home from point-blank range after a free-kick from the left.

3 minutes later and Paton had doubled his tally, breaking free from the centre of the park, bursting past two defenders and rounding the keeper to slot home.

He had to wait until the 74th minute to complete his hat-trick, again rounding the keeper inside the box to finish.

At the other end of the park fellow Hibernian Development Squad member Patrick Martin kept a clean sheet, enjoying a satisfying debut of his own.

Congratulations to both Academy players!
