28 Apr Looking back at FC Dallas and the Iscar Cup
Earlier this month we touched upon FC Dallas and their trip to the Iscar Cup. Since then their head of youth development Chris Hayden was reiterated on several occasions just how beneficial the trip was.
Soccer in America has been steadily rising since they hosted the World Cup in 1994, with an emphasis on grassroots development at the forefront of all their work – especially evident at FC Dallas.
The team trip to the Iscar Cup was of course organised by DB Sports Tours, with company co-founder David Berber having spoke with Chris on many occasions, searching for the right opportunity for FC Dallas and their brightest under-10 talents.
“David has contacted FC Dallas in the past to invite us to various tournaments, and sometimes it has worked out with the dates, and this one did for this under-10 category. We thought it would be a really opportunity for these kids to come and enjoy,” said Chris.
While at the Iscar Cup, which was held in Spain, from March 24-26, FC Dallas got to take on a range of opponents, most notably Real Madrid and PSG. While there FC Dallas managed a very commendable 1-1 draw with the aforementioned Real Madrid; a mean feat given the resources of the Spanish giants.
“This tournament is fantastic we feel for kids of this age, because we are giving the kids to see (and experience) a level that we haven’t before. I think our kids have benefitted from it. It’s great for us to see the standard f other top clubs from Spain and around the world,” said Chris.
FC Dallas were elated with their team trip, and should you wish to have a sports tour organised, you can visit the site here.
