FC Dallas Youths Star at Iscar Cup

FC Dallas Youths Star at Iscar Cup

DB Sports Tours are delighted to tell our readers about the trans-Atlantic journey of FC Dallas, who recently competed at the Iscar Cup. The Iscar Cup was held in Iscar, Spain, from March 24 – 26.

FC Dallas, who were the only North American club competing in the tournament thanks to a special invitation granted to DB Sports and both were not disappointed as they sent over a fantastic group consisting of their best players from across a range of their under-10 teams. FC Dallas played a number of top class matches at the Iscar Cup; including Real Madrid, PSG, CD Iscar and UD Las Palmas.

DB Sports Tours arranged the team trip for FC Dallas, who played very well in their three first round games, against arguably the world’s biggest club in Real Madrid in which they held Los Blancos to a commendable 1-1 draw.

The second match in their team tour was against the more local outfit CD Iscar, wherein they resolute in defence, earning a 1-1 draw. Such defensive solidity is at the foundation of the FC Dallas training methods, and was clear in their first two matches.

By match three of the team trip for FC Dallas got to take on UD Las Palmas, whose senior team compete in La Liga – Spain’s top-flight of senior professional football. The match ended in a 2-0 loss to the Spanish outfit, but once again FC Dallas put in an effort which received plaudits from many of the coaches from all the clubs watching on.

“It was a fantastic experience for the kids,” Vice President of FC Dallas Youth Chris Hayden said. “We get to take older players overseas all the time, and to get the chance to take a group of players this age is really fantastic because everything we were experiencing was very new for them.”

“The first time we played in a 7-v-7 format in an actual game was against Real Madrid on live TV and we ended up drawing that game [1-1],” Hayden said. “It was just a great experience for those players and what we hope is that the experience that they had will allow them to come back here and really draw from that to continue to improve and someday play in our Academy.”

In a recent interview – the video is embedded below – Chris spoke about the process of working with David Berber and DB Sports Tours, while reiterating how worthwhile the Iscar Cup specifically was for the FC Dallas Youths.

“David has contacted FC Dallas in the past to invite us to various tournaments, and sometimes it has worked out with the dates, and this one did for this under-10 category. We thought it would be a really opportunity for these kids to come and enjoy.”

“This tournament is fantastic we feel for kids of this age, because we are giving the kids to see (and experience) a level that we haven’t before. I think our kids have benefitted from it. It’s great for us to see the standard f other top clubs from Spain and around the world,” said Chris.

Chris was effusive in his praise again, this time speaking with a member of the FC Dallas media team, which can be seen here.
