05 Aug Everton Connecticut Set For Week-Long England Trip
Here at DB Sports Tours we are constantly expanding, and we have made it abundantly clear in recent times the next frontier is the US. This weekend we are delighted to bring Everton Connecticut to England for a week-long team tour.
This trans-Atlantic journey sees Everton Connecticut’s under-15 side spend a week in England where they will get to train at top class facilities, play a number of matches, and then the week will culminate with the group taking in some Premier League action on the opening weekend of the season.
The group leave Stateside on Saturday night, with them set to arrive early Sunday morning. Hopefully the boys get some rest on the flight because their action packed week begins with haste on Sunday, with a stadium tour of Old Trafford booked just after midday, with dinner at the Red Café to follow.
Day two however of this team trip is when the work begins. The group will get to train at the Platt Lane Sports Complex, situated at the grounds of the University of Manchester. This training will be in preparation for a match the following day when they get to take on Everton FC; the battles of the Blues!
Before the friendly at Finch Farm however the group will get to take in an educational talk from Manchester United’s Head of Recruitment Derek Langley, at their Cheshire based hotel Village Hotel Club Hyde.
By day four this sports trip it will be time for more training at the Platt Lane Sports Complex, with a tour of Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium to follow in the afternoon. By evening it will be time to let their hair down and have more fun – this time bowling at Hollywood Bowl.
As the week comes closer to the end the activities will become increasingly exciting with day five seeing the group play a series of round robin matches against both Birmingham City and Luton FC in Birmingham. By day six – Friday – the group will have a training session with Accrington Stanley coaches.
Later that evening there will be time for a tour of the National Football Museum in Manchester. Finally – day six culminates with some live Premier League action. Firstly however, it’s their own match-time, with a friendly penned in for 11am with the group set to take on Accrington Stanley – of 80’s milk advert fame!
The group will the travel to Liverpool to see Everton kick-start their season at the iconic Goodison Park with the Blues taking on last season’s runner-up Tottenham Hotspur. Following the match it’s back to the hotel to rest before the trip back stateside on Sunday morning.
We are delighted to be working with Everton Connecticut on this team trip and are anticipating a fantastic week ahead for the group. This is just one example of our ambition to expand into American soccer, so for more make sure to keep an eye on our busy blog here.
