DONS CAPTURE IRISH YOUTH INTERNATIONALS

Aberdeen Luke for Irish Power – Paul Sheerin adds to his Development Squad

Aberdeen have completed the signatures of two Irish Youth International defenders. Both Conor Power and Luke Turner were involved recently with the Republic of Ireland U16s. Ahead of the new season, both boys are currently with their new team mates in Alicante on the Erasmus+ funded pre-season trip.

Paul Sheerin had this to say about his two new arrivals:

“They were in at the tail end of last season for about ten days and both Conor and Luke really impressed during that period. They showed enough of their defensive abilities to hopefully improve us in that department going forward.

“We were a little bit light in that area of the field in the Youth Academy and the two of them fitted the bill. They both seem good lads as well and during the first week of training have looked very fit.

“Both players have recently achieved International Selection for Republic of Ireland U16’s, so they have a great pedigree and hopefully they will hit the ground running.”

Everyone at AFC wishes Conor and Luke all the very best during their time at Pittodrie.

We would also like to say a big thank you to all the clubs in Ireland who helped facilitate the deals, particularly St Patricks and Shamrock Rovers, who the players were signed from.

DB Sports / James Grant Sports – “We are delighted to be part of this transfer especially the fact that Luke had spent a week in our office on transition year experience at the start of the year, where all our staff got to know him on a personal level.  Conor I have watched on numerous occasions with both Pats and ST.Francis and I believe both players physical presence and defensive style will see them progress quickly throughly the ranks at Aberdeen.  The fact both players have been offered a 3 year contract shows Aberdeen are serious about giving the lads time to develop at the club.  I hope to get over soon and see them play against either of our other players in Scotland Barry Coffeey at Celtic FC or Ruari Patton at Hibernian”.
