22 Nov Champions Cup 2017: All Teams and Fixtures Now Confirmed
The Champions Cup will take place this coming December, for the sixth iteration of the Champions Cup. The Champions Cup, a DB Sports Tours original creation, brings together the very best of underage football from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland each late December.
Taking place in Dundalk FC’s Oriel Park, the Champions Cup sees the very best for boys – and for the first time this year girls too – compete against each other from each corner of the Island of Ireland. Running for six consecutive years the Champions Cup has been a staple of the hard work and dedication DB Sports Tours has to the growth of Irish soccer from grassroots level upward.
St. Kevin’s Boys FC of Whitehall, Dublin, dominate the ROI pool, representing the SFAI (Schoolboy Football Association of Ireland) All Ireland teams at U-13, U-14, and U-16 level, while Corinthians of Cork will represent SFAI for the U-15 age group.
For the NIBFA (Northern Ireland Boy’s Football Association) pool there are just two teams taking place, with Linfield being the dominant force representing the NIBFA at U-13, U-15 AND U-16 level, while Glentoran are the NIBFA representatives for U-14 level.
Last but certainly not least is the girl’s section (U14, U-15); the first year there will be a girls section in the Champions Cup. The U-14 match sees Kilmore Celtic of Dublin take on a Northern Ireland select side. Meanwhile the U-15 match-up sees Shelbourne FC take on an U15’s Northern Ireland select side.
