30 Nov Cabinteely Youths Impress in English Friendlies
As ever at DB Sports Tours we are delighted when we can announce a young Irish football team developing well and gaining vital experience; this week we can announce how Cabinteely’s under-11 side got on in their recent friendly matches played in England.
Cabinteely’s under-11 side, who play in the DDSL Premier – the strongest league in the country for their age group – played two friendlies games, against both Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.
Rovers senior side play in the Football League One in England (the third tier), but their under-11 side are no slouches either; putting up a fine fight against the Irish youths. Nevertheless Cabinteely were victorious on the day, leaving players and staff chuffed following the final whistle.
Next up was Sheffield Wednesday. Wednesday’s senior side play in The Championship – England’s second tier, and equally were a very impressive outfit. In what was said to be a tightly contested game it was Wednesday who were the victors.
