Bolton Cup International Academy Cup

Bolton Cup International Academy Cup

DB Sports Tours is delighted to announce initial details about a new tournament – the Bolton Cup. The tournament will be held over the upcoming second week of the Easter midterm break, and is inclusive for both boys and girls U14’s & U16’s only.

The tournament itself is planned to be held in The Bolton Wanderers FC Academy in Bolton, England, over the second week of Easter, to accommodate time off from school for the participants. Of the participating clubs, there will be a host of elite Irish youth soccer clubs alongside many elite football academies, with the likes of Bolton Wanderers FC, Leicester City FC, Preston North End FC, and Oldham Athletic A.F.C already showing a strong interest in competing.

DB Sports Tours pride ourselves as a national leader in the creation and running of global youth football tournaments, and given our history of tournaments such as the Champions Cup, DB Sports Tours Summer Cup and the Coca Cola Cup. As well as the many trips we organise for soccer clubs to Europe, the Bolton cup is sure to be another success. And here’s why..

Diversity is key for the Bolton Cup, with both boys and girls games set to be organised. Furthermore, quality of the football and more pertinently the quality of learning for the participants is at the forefront of everything we do. With such high aspirations, we want there to be BOTH small sided games, and 11 a side matches.

The small sided games trip will be held over Sunday the 27th to Tuesday the 29th of March with the matches taking place on the Easter Monday. Meanwhile, the 11 aside boys and girls games will be held on Wednesday 30th – Thursday the 31st of March. Each participating team in the Bolton Cup will play a minimum of four matches; illustrating the guarantee this educational tour promises to provide.

By providing both small sided and 11 aside games we believe we are providing the necessary framework for the participants to experience elite level football in not only an exciting and progressive manner, but one which best harbours the development of our players in an elite context. In truth, we see the Bolton Cup, like all of our tournaments, as an educational and developmental tour for the participants, as much as a purely competitive one.

The age groups will be boy’s under-10 to Under-16 and girl’s Under-14 and under-16. It can now be broken down further per age group: The boy’s under-10, 11 and 12 will be 7 vs. 7. Meanwhile, under-13 to under-16 will be 11 vs. 11. The girls section on the other hand will be 11 vs. 11.

Finally, the boy’s under-10 to 12 tour will be held on Monday March 28th, while the boy’s Under -13 to under-16 section and the girl’s tour will be Wednesday to Thursday.
