13 May Anto Breslin Handed Contract Extension at Wolves
After great news emerging last week in the form of Adam McDonnell been handed his league debut for Ipswich Town we here at DB Sports Tours are pleased to tell our readers about more good news – Anto Breslin has been handed a contract extension at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Breslin (19), who plays nominally left-back joined Wolves in 2013 from the iconic schoolboy club St. Kevin’s Boys, has been flourishing in the two years since the move. It hasn’t been overwhelming for Breslin however, having gained vital experience when earning caps for Ireland at under-15, under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 level in the past.
Some of his past peers are the perfect example for him to go and progress, too. He played with the aforementioned McDonnell at Tolka Rovers, and Anto Dolan, who signed for Fulham and is currently spending time on loan at St. Patrick’s Athletic. Speaking exclusively to DB Sports Tours following the news Breslin was clearly chuffed, but sees it as another opportunity to work as hard as possible to progress.
“I’m delighted with the opportunity to get another year on my original contract. I will continue to work hard over the summer and look to come back stronger for the start of next season”, said Breslin.
Such hard work and commitment are prerequisite for all burgeoning professional sportsmen, and it is such hard work and focus to constantly improve which has driven Breslin so far. Speaking following the news DB Sports Tours co-founder and agent of Breslin David Berber was effusive in his praise for the youngster’s improvements.
“Anto has a massive opportunity now to kick on with the new offer. He’s had a great year; the reports back from the club have been excellent and the chance to break into the first team is there for the taking.
“This extra year for Irish players gives them more time to adjust to full time training as I always feel the first 12 months of most contracts is a write off as the Irish lads bodies take at least 12-24 months to develop compared to UK kids that have been involved in professional academies from a very young age”.
All signs for good for Breslin with the new contract at Wolves. Below is a fun video he done with the club recently. For more information on Breslin’s development, as well as the development of all our players keep an eye on our busy blog here.
