Adam McDonnell Offered Two Year Contract Extension at Ipswich Town

It has been a summer of big news here at DB Sports, on both the player agency and sports tours side of the business. Our player agency services have grown immensely over the past year, and we couldn’t be more pleased to bring you our biggest news to date – Adam McDonnell (19) has been offered a two year contract extension at Ipswich Town.

McDonnell was set to sign a one year extension at the end of last season, but following a breakout campaign in which the Dubliner made his senior debut for Mick McCarthy’s side, he has been duly rewarded with a two year deal. McDonnell’s rise at the Blues has been steadfast, with his acclimatisation to first team football beginning last summer.

Indeed, the Irish youth international spent pre-season last summer with Ipswich’s senior side, playing against the likes of Irish outfit Shelbourne, and even the German side Fortuna Dusseldorf. McDonnell’s steady progression continued last season, with one notable highlight being an under-21 clash against West Ham United, with former Barcelona midfielder Alexander Song playing for the opposition.

McDonnell’s impressive rise at club level has seen him capped for his country too. McDonnell impressed in the UEFA U19 Championships qualifying round in November 2014. He was previously capped at U15, U16 & U17 level for Ireland. Notably, McDonnell has starred for his country alongside fellow DB Sports associated player Noe Baba in the past.

McDonnell made his competitive senior debut last year against Doncaster Rovers in a Capital One Cup game, while he made his league debut against Derby in May. With another year under his belt and a new contract to be signed shortly this is set to be another stellar year for the Dublin native, looking to cement his place in the Ipswich Town senior squad.

Over the summer McDonnell has kept fit, in preparation for the new season. In partnership with Kickstart Fitness DB Sports has ensured all of our players have been provided with the best training possible throughout the summer months, courtesy of Darren Dillon – the only TRX Master based in Ireland. Together with Kickstart Fitness we are sure McDonnell will have a head start among his teammates for the upcoming pre-season.

Looking toward to the new season McDonnell’s agent and DB Sports co-fouder David Berber was effusive in his praise for McDonnell on his work ethic and rise to prominence with the Championship outfit, stating: “Adam is a fantastic person who has come such a long way in a short period of time, Ive really got to know Adam and all his family over the past two years of his initial contract and look forward to spending many more good times with the McDonnell and Duffy family”.
