01 Jan Abbey Villa S.C. Set for Ireland Soccer Tour in July
In a year of such growth here at DB Sports Tours it feels apt that we end finish up the news here on the blog with such big news – confirmation of the Abbey Villa S.C. team tour, penned in for July 13 – 23. Abbey Villa S.C. are a soccer club based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, having formed in 2014.
This team trip will see Abbey Villa S.C. spend ten days in Ireland on a uniquely created sports trip to suit the requirement of this youthful group of soccer players. During their ten day team trip Abbey Villa S.C. will spend one week in Dublin, wherein they will enjoy an array of sightseeing activities before playing a match against suitable Irish opposition.
Following that Abbey Villa S.C. will enjoy a tour of other landmarks of Ireland, including a trip north to the Giant’s Causeway, a trip west to Connemara and a trip south to the Cliffs of Moher. The latter part of this team trip will include two more matches against Irish opposition, marrying both the soccer experience with the true sightseeing aspect of this perfectly moulded team trip.
Speaking to DB Sports Tours co-founder David Berber, he reflected upon his growing relationship with Alistair Harvey, who now coaches with Abbey Villa S.C., but prior worked with DB Sports Tours when he coached with Cherry Orchard.
‘I think back to 2011 when we (DB Sports Tours) brought Barcelona to Carlton House we used Alistair Harvey’s kids to demonstrate the sessions when we was coaching at Cherry Orchard. He recognised our work with schoolboy football here in Ireland.
‘After moving to Boston we were the first company he rang to give his kids the opportunity we provided the Cherry Orchard group that took part in the Barcelona clinic in Carlton House,’ said David.
Although this trip remains some time away we are sure the group are already very excited to make their soccer trip to Ireland next summer, and we would like to wish all coming over a happy New Year.
